Ashtanga Retreat with David & Jelena
APRIL 13 - 20th
David Robson
David Robson is a practitioner and teacher of Ashtanga Yoga, in the tradition of Sharath Yoga Centre (SYC). David is the director of the Ashtanga Yoga Centre of Toronto, where he leads one of the world’s largest Mysore programs outside of India.
David began a daily practice in 1998 while at university studying Comparative Religion. After graduating, David made his first trip to Mysore, India in 2002, where he initiated studies with his teacher Sharath Jois. Since then he has returned to Mysore annually to deepen and enrich his practice and teaching.
In 2007, David was Authorized to teach Ashtanga and now holds a level 2 authorization.
David has become well-known on social media for his educational and entertaining yes/no tutorials. Through these videos he's become one of the most recognized and respected Ashtanga Yoga teachers worldwide.
David teaches the morning mysore program at Ashtanga Toronto, and leads workshops and retreats around the world with his wife Jelena.
Jelena Vesic
After four years of doing her PhD (Political Science, York University, Toronto), Jelena decided to walk away and dedicate herself to teaching Ashtanga Yoga full time. She’s been teaching since 2014, and is now leading the evening Mysore program at AYCT. Alongside her husband, David Robson, Jelena teaches workshops and retreats in Toronto and around the world.
Jelena first came to yoga through dance. As a former ballet dancer of 16 years, the structure and rigour of the Ashtanga Yoga practice felt like home. Drawn to the discipline, mindfulness of the movement and emphasis on the breath, Jelena made the Ashtanga practice her sole focus in 2009.
Jelena has maintained a daily Ashtanga practice for over a decade. She’s made two trips to Mysore, India to study with her teacher, Sharath Jois. In addition, Jelena also considers herself to be a student of Jack Kornfield, a Buddhist teacher and clinical psychologist. She’s completed his and Tara Brach’s “The Power of Awareness” course, and is now enrolled in their two-year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program.
Lastly, Jelena’s true passion lies in promoting rescue and adoption of (street) dogs. You can often find her sharing her love for #adoptdontshop on her IG, and sharing the joys of living with her two fur-babies, Boksoon and Khani, both celebrities in their own right.
Ashtanga & Movement retreat with Pilar & Jimmy
Ibiza
June 8-15th 2024
Pilar de Miguel
Level 2 Authorized teacher by Sharath Jois
Pilar has been practicing different styles of yoga for years, but when she discovered Ashtanga Yoga in 2014, she instantly fell in love with this practice, as she deeply connected with the profound and transformative experience of combining breath and meditation with movement.
She quit her job in the international media field and started traveling to Mysore, India, to practice with her teacher and Guru, Sharath Jois. That´s where following her heart decided to create “Balearic Retreats” and bring some of the Mysore Magic to her home island, Mallorca, to later expand it to other countries.
She started her Mysore program in 2020, Ashtanga Yoga Mallorca, and teaches both in the island and abroad.
Jimmy Jonsson
Swede for birth, Mallorquinan in the heart, Jimmy has been an active person as long as he remembers. He loves outdoors and training in nature. It all started climbing trees as a kid and running in the forests of Sweden with his friends; motocross, cycling and strength training came after.
Since 2017 yoga took a big part of his interests, mostly because it brings stillness within him, first through the path of Hatha Yoga and later on through the Ashtanga practice. He combines the yoga practice with cycling around the island and various strength trainings to prepare the body for the greater calling into the wild.
He loves the Wim Hof method of intense breathing and cold swims and is passionate about healthy diet, habits and body movement. His goal is to be able to move without pain and enjoy life in a healthy temple.
He creates content for Balearic Retreats and other brands, thanks to his talented eye and passion for video and photography.

She has learned the Primary, Intermediate, Advanced A and Advanced B Series directly from Pattabhi Jois and Sharath (at the Krishna Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India) and shares the Ashtanga yoga system Internationally (in studios and on retreats) and also Online (Sanskrit Counted Led classes and One-to-Ones).
After a vocational ballet school training from age twelve and twenty five years of studying and teaching dance at universities and ballet companies all over the UK, Philippa randomly walked into an Ashtanga yoga class in London. It was a life-changing incident, that made complete sense.
From the late 1990s, she began learning/practising the Ashtanga yoga system, daily before work (in the media, film and music industries). For twenty years she has studied for several months each year at KPJAYI in Mysore (and on tour), practising under the guidance of guru Pattabhi Jois and his grandson Sharath Jois.
In 2006, Philippa established and ran Triyoga Soho’s Ashtanga self-practice programme in London. She taught there for five years before relocating to South India, to build her own shala (on a coffee estate in the Western Ghats). ASHTANGA NIRVRTA is a stunning homestay yoga retreat, which aims to bring Ashtanga yoga to all levels of practitioners, in nature, without distraction.
