Alignment retreat with
Ty landrum
October 21-28
Renown for his profound explorations of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Ty has a unique talent for bringing the theory of yoga alive, not only in words, but on the canvas of the breathing body. His passion as a teacher is to share the brilliance of yoga with anyone who wants to learn.
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a method of reshaping our posture of mind, to hold space for the inner process of yoga to unfold. The posture we seek involves an exquisite balance of prana and apana, the primitive movements of expansion and contraction that underlie the breath. When we find this balance, the mind begins to unravel. Old tangles of thought and feeling begin to release gently, naturally, from the inside.
Alignment is about holding this posture, remaining steady but receptive as our minds unwind. And we learn to hold this posture as we churn our bodies to the depths, and the sediment of past experience continues to rise. Through this practice, we give ourselves space. We allow our minds to breathe. We steep in the quiet exhilaration of coming undone.
In this retreat, we learn to use Ashtanga Vinyasa to balance the internal breath—in accord with its original design. We learn the elusive practices of bandha and mudra, together with techniques that bring those practices alive—tracing internal currents of breath, balancing subtle patterns of sensation, and allowing our bodies to be moved from the inside. Most importantly, we learn to integrate these techniques to engage more deeply in the inner practice of yoga.
There are no requirements of technical proficiency, and people with unique injuries, limitations and circumstances are absolutely welcome to attend.

ABOUT Ty
Ty landrum is a poet, philosopher, somatic explorer and apprentice to the body. He learned yoga from pain and heartache, loss and confusion, old books and lost tapes, full moons, long bouts of silence, cold winds, simplicity, forgiveness, surrender, and the caring words of a few good friends.
He draws inspiration from children, wise women, gnarled old men, olive trees, deep rivers, steep mountains, quaking aspen, honeybees, sad songs, sunrise, saffron, sage, chocolate, laughter and deep breath.
